Our Story
Jamie was diagnosed with Plagiocephaly at his 2 month well baby check-up. Despite repositioning attempts his plagiocephaly worsened between 2 and 4 months to the point that active correction would be to his benefit. Our pediatrician sent us to Cranial Technologies for an evaluation.
After taking measurements and pictures of his beautiful head we found out he has right occipatal flattening with right frontal prominence and a Cranial Vault asymmetry of 11mm (2-3 is normal). After much deliberation we decided to take the plunge and treat Jamie’s plagiocephaly with a DOC Band.
Casting
I only took pictures before the casting because during and after I was busy being a Mommy! Basically, they used casting plaster to make a negative model of Jamie’s head. He did great! We gave him a bottle during the first part and he only cried a little when we had to take the bottle away to put the plaster on the back of his head. The whole process took about 10 minutes and he could see and hear the whole time. After the casting he got a bath and that was it. The model was sent off to the main Cranial Tech Center to have the model of his head and his DOC band created.
